Jeff and Dawn Brown were married in Hampton, VA January, 1986. Jeff and Dawn both graduated from Christopher Newport University in Newport News, VA with degrees in Computer Science. Jeff graduated in 1985 and Dawn in1993. Jeff later returned to school and earned a masters degree in 2008. Jeff, like the Apostle Paul, is a “tent maker.” Since GBC-HR cannot afford to pay him a salary he works as a software developer in the Washington, DC area. Dawn is a homemaker and has been home schooling their three children for 6 years. Grace Bible Church of Hampton Roads is privileged to have Jeff Brown as our pastor-teacher. Jeff possesses an exceptional understanding of the Word of God. He has been a devoted student of Scripture for 30 years and is a skilled linguist with an extraordinary grasp of English and Greek. Jeff started his journey into “right division” at an early age. He was fortunate to have been raised in a Christian household and in 1970, at the age of 8, he trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior. Shortly thereafter, on the testimony of his mother, he began showing tremendous interest in the "things of the Lord", including Bible reading/study and prayer as well as a desire to participate in the activities of the church he attended. By the age of 17, he was teaching in the non-denominational, Acts 2 church that he was brought up in. However, in the early 90's, a coworker gave him a copy of "Things That Differ" by C. R. Stam and his journey into "rightly dividing the word of truth" began. Once he was convinced of the unique ministry and message of the apostle Paul for the Gentiles, Jeff began teaching the new things he was learning to his fellow church members. Unfortunately, very few were willing to accept these truths. As opposition rose to what Jeff was teaching it soon became evident that it would be best for all concerned if he left and started a new work. At this point, Jeff, his wife, his father and mother, and a few others including Dan Cheek, started a home Bible study. Here they enjoyed freedom to study the Scriptures and aspire to a fuller understanding of the truths of God’s plans and purposes for today. Over time, this small group grew and ultimately became what is now known as Grace Bible Church of Hampton Roads. During the early 2000's, Jeff was introduced to the works of Charles. H. Welch. As Jeff studied Mr. Welch’s books and listened to his audio teachings he began to understand the importance of the setting aside of Israel which necessitated the new revelation of THE MYSTERY to the apostle Paul. This understanding revolutionized his teaching! What a joy to know that the faithful of this dispensation have been blessed with "all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ" and the solemn duty to "make all see what is the fellowship of the Mystery"!
